Your next step starts with what matters to you
You do not need to have your whole future planned before taking a useful step. Set aside a few quiet minutes and write down your answers to these six prompts.
What would you like to change?
Choose one area: learning something new, returning to work, exploring a business idea, contributing to your community or finding people with shared interests. Write one sentence about why it matters to you.
What do you already bring?
List three strengths or experiences. These can come from paid work, studying, caring for a family, organising an event, helping someone learn or solving an everyday problem. Add one example for each.
What can you realistically commit?
Think about available time, travel, internet access and responsibilities at home. Describe what would make participation practical for you. There is no need to share private family or financial details.
What would you like to learn?
Choose one specific skill or question rather than a broad goal. For example: practise introducing yourself professionally, organise examples of your work or understand the first steps in a business idea.
Who could help you take a step?
Think of a person or organisation whose experience could help. Write down the question you would ask. Check that any opportunity is genuine before sharing documents, making payments or committing time.
What is one small action for this week?
Choose an action you can complete: write a short introduction, update one section of your CV, collect a work example, research a learning option or have one useful conversation. At the end of the week, note what you learned and choose your next action.
Keep these notes for yourself. If you choose to register with HerDen, share only the information requested by the form and keep free-text answers focused on your interests.
